Alcohol and Drug Use During Pregnancy

After the success of our Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign, WEB and First 5 Santa Barbara County are launching an important new parent education effort focusing on a growing problem in North County; the increasing use of alcohol and street drugs by young pregnant women.

Like our Breastfeeding radio campaign, our new radio spots will feature Dr. Robert McGhie, a longtime Santa Maria OB-GYN. It was Dr. McGhie who raised this vital issue to First 5 Santa Barbara County after hearing too many of his patients admit to drinking or using drugs during their pregnancy. Our new radio spots are running in English and Spanish on Emerald Wave Media radio stations, Mega 95.1, Radio Ranchitos and La Buena.

Welcome Every Baby is funded by First 5 Santa Barbara County and a collaborative of local funders.
